Commissioners approve land bank AV system, HVAC repairs and set public hearing to vacate Kent Drive

Richland County commissioners approved several consent and procurement items during their Nov. 20 meeting, including a conference audio-visual system for the newly renovated Land Bank room, HVAC repairs at two county buildings, hiring requests at Job and Family Services, and acceptance of a $1,200 donation to Dayspring residents.
Matt Hill of the auditor’s office said the county’s existing Logitech meetup camera is designed for small rooms and cannot support multiple microphones for the longer Land Bank conference room. Hill said the recommended unit supports three microphones so speakers can be recorded without approaching the front microphones. Chair moved to approve the purchase from capital funds; commissioners answered affirmatively and the purchase motion carried.
Maintenance superintendent Josh Hicks described two HVAC repair quotes from Control Concepts of Ohio: one for the County Administration Building (quoted about $3,009) and one for the Park Building (about $1,296.26). Commissioners moved to approve contracting for those repairs.
The board also set a public hearing for Thursday, Dec. 18 at 10:30 a.m. on a petition to vacate a portion of Kent Drive in Mifflin Township. Commissioners moved and approved the resolution to set the hearing.
Additional consent items approved included hiring authorizations at Job and Family Services for three positions with specified starting hourly rates and nine-month probation, and acceptance of a $1,200 donation from the Russell and Mary Gimbel Foundation to Dayspring for resident gifts.
The board opened bids for the juvenile detention plumbing project and received a single bid from Standard Plumbing and Heating; commissioners said staff will review the bid and any addenda to determine compliance with project specifications before awarding.
The meeting also included a brief executive session on compensation of a public employee; commissioners returned to open session and continued business. The meeting adjourned at 11:49 a.m.
