Speaker 3, identified in the meeting as Director of Public Works Jack Strahler, said the Village’s vac truck helped move the project along when the contractor’s equipment was unavailable and that the Village preferred to provide such assistance only when requested so it could charge appropriately. "There was no benefit other than it just helped move the project along," Strahler said, adding that the contractor was "willing to pay machine time and labor for it." The board carried the motion to recommend the change order to the Village Board and Budget & Finance Committee.
The board approved pay request number 5 for Hickory Lane for $293,286.04. Strahler told the board this is the second‑to‑last payment and that the Village will hold a final retainage payment of approximately $42,000–$43,000 during the one‑year correction (warranty) period so the contractor will return to correct any turf or warranty issues.
Separately, the board approved change order number 4 and the final pay request for the Ridgeway Drive and Chestnut Court reconstruction with Advanced Construction. The change order increased that contract by $19,142.61 and the final pay request (number 6) was $44,697.88. Strahler described change order #4 as the final reconciliation of quantities used on the project.
All motions related to these agenda items were carried on voice votes with no opposed votes recorded during the meeting. The board forwarded the recommendations to the Budget & Finance Committee and Village Board for formal action.
The board did not set assessment or final cost‑allocation decisions at the meeting; questions about whether residents would be assessed for streetlight conversions and other post‑construction charges were deferred to future discussions.
The board also noted the Hickory Lane project remains under the one‑year correction period; officials said work to address any deficiencies will be scheduled if turf does not establish in spring.
