The Knoxville Historic Zoning Commission approved three certificates of appropriateness and the previous meeting minutes at its Oct. 16 session.
Staff described each Level 2 COA in Old North Knoxville. For 1334 Granger Ave staff recommended replacing unsalvageable front porch columns with 8‑inch round wooden, smooth‑finished tapered columns and cementitious capitals to match existing details but asked that the replacement columns rest on a square plinth and match the diameter and capital width of the originals; the commission approved per staff recommendation.
For 225 East Oklahoma Ave staff recommended a 12x8 foot shed behind a contributing property and advised the commission to require that the small sliding window be omitted or replaced with wood, aluminum‑clad wood or fiberglass; applicant Fosima Alathari confirmed she had submitted revised drawings removing the window and Old North neighborhood representative Sean Boling said the neighborhood supported the change; the commission approved with the condition that the window be omitted.
A proposal to add a rear deck and remove a secondary entrance at the Burt House Neighborhood Center (800 North 4th Ave) was presented; staff recommended approval as submitted and the commission passed the motion.
At the start of the meeting the commission also moved and approved the minutes from the prior month.
All three COAs were recorded as approved (motions and votes on the record).
