The school committee approved two student travel requests on Nov. 18.
Connor Ryan, the pathway program presenter, described a senior trip to The Blanding School in Arundel, Maine, to expose students to marine-systems programs and potential internships. The committee moved and approved the trip (motion by Henry; second by Melissa); vote 4–0.
Separately, staff and a student requested permission to launch a speech-and-debate club and attend a national-circuit tournament (presented as the Berkeley Forum/Emery event). Committee members discussed advisor chaperone costs and noted funding would come from the high-school club account; the committee approved the trip by voice vote, 4–0.
