Oldsmar council urges school board to evaluate Oldsmar Elementary as K–8

The Oldsmar City Council on Dec. 2 adopted Resolution 2025‑34 expressing support that the Pinellas County School Board evaluate making Oldsmar Elementary a kindergarten through eighth‑grade school. City staff presented the resolution as a formal city request that the school board assess feasibility, community benefits and operational requirements.
The council emphasized that the resolution is a request for study, not a decision to convert the school. Members said they expect the school board to return findings on logistics — such as transportation, electives and impacts on nearby schools — before the city or the public takes further action. The motion carried by voice vote with no recorded opposition.
Council members said they intend to hold a town hall in early 2026 to give parents, teachers and residents an opportunity to ask questions and review the school board’s analysis once it is available.
