Staff ran a competitive procurement for demolition of 117 East Solomon Street and recommended Anderson Environmental Inc., a local firm, as the lowest qualified bidder. The board approved awarding the demolition contract at the staff-recommended amount ($245,000). Staff told the board they had confirmed bonding and insurance and that contract and notice-to-proceed paperwork will return to the board at the first January meeting for finalization and scheduling.
Why it matters: the structure is part of downtown redevelopment efforts and staff said pictures and documentation will be used to ensure the historic facade can be replicated or appropriately reconstructed following demolition.
