Board approves three lien-reduction requests, including a property owner’s testimony of repairs and costs

Wakulla County commissioners voted to approve three code-enforcement lien-reduction requests (case numbers CE20183928, CE2023-666, CE2023688). One new owner said he spent $75,000 on easements and hydrants and asked that the county dismiss further fines.
The board reviewed and approved three code-enforcement lien-reduction applications presented by staff.
Case CE20183928 (492 East Ivan Road): staff said the property’s outstanding lien exceeded $182,000 but the code enforcement board recommended reducing it to hard cost plus 20% ($2,238.77); a representative told the board the property was purchased in poor condition and that the buyers had cleaned it up; the board approved the reduction.
Case CE2023-666 (3874 Coastal Highway): staff reported the outstanding lien was just over $41,000 and recommended reducing it to hard cost plus 20% ($2,436.11), to be satisfied within 60 days if approved. Owner/manager speaker McQueary said he purchased Wildwood RV Park in March, spent $75,000 of his own money to buy an easement and install two fire hydrants, and asked that the board dismiss further payment; the board approved the staff recommendation.
Case CE2023688 (70 Neely Road): staff described compliance gained in October and an outstanding lien of $86,008.50; the code enforcement board recommended reducing to hard cost plus 20% ($2,234.50) and the board approved that recommendation.
All three reductions were approved on the record with voice votes; public commenters thanked the board.
