During consent and contract discussions, the board paused and pulled item B2 for separate consideration. Members raised concern about student-worker paperwork and payment timing; the treasurer’s office said incomplete paperwork (birth certificates and required documents) delayed agenda placement and that student workers who have completed paperwork should be paid next week, with the board requesting email confirmation.
Several board members also questioned a contract for Flock Safety license‑plate readers, with one member noting the annual cost of $162,000 and requesting data from last year showing concrete benefits for district property beyond law‑enforcement use. District staff said the LPRs have helped recover stolen vehicles and assisted investigations but agreed to provide usage data to justify the investment.
Finally, pursuant to Section 121.22(g)(2) of the Ohio Revised Code, Doctor Goodwin moved and Mister Lacey seconded a motion to enter executive session to consider the appointment, employment or dismissal of a public employee and to confer with an attorney about pending or imminent court action; the motion passed on unanimous roll call and the board recessed into executive session.
Next steps: administration will provide (1) payroll confirmation and timeline for student workers, (2) additional data on the Flock Safety LPR contract, (3) the previously requested supporting documents for the Onflow presentation and the mentor coordinator job description.
