Planning commission schedules Jan. 26 public hearing on fee adjustments for road signs and GIS costs

The Louisa County Planning Commission voted to schedule a public hearing for Jan. 26 on proposed changes to the county fee schedule and Chapter 64 aimed at clarifying responsibility for road-street-sign replacement and better capturing GIS and addressing costs.
Staff said the current ordinance language is outdated and that Fire & EMS had historically managed road-sign replacement at roughly $270 per sign, with costs absorbed in their budget. The proposed fee-schedule amendments include higher fees for creating new parcels, digitization of new roads and addresses, and an option to charge developers the road-sign cost up front rather than pursuing reimbursement later.
"...we realize that the language in the ordinance under chapter 64...is a little outdated," staff said, summarizing the intent to update the fee schedule and schedule a public hearing to solicit public comment.
A motion to place the fee-schedule amendments on the Jan. 26 public hearing calendar was moved, seconded and approved by roll call.
The public hearing will be presented to the commission in January for public comment and further deliberation before transmittal to the Board of Supervisors.
