Middleton planning staff announced a new hire and staffing changes that will affect the workforce housing committee's capacity.
Scott (planning staff) said the city has hired a new placemaking planner, Jolyn Rorda, who previously served as executive director of an arts and literature organization and will start in mid-September. With the retirement of Mark Opens, Daphne has taken over as Zoning Administrator and Senior City Planner, and the speaker said they have assumed the Associate Planner role and will help staff the workforce housing committee during the transition.
"She starts in mid September and needs a little bit of time just to kind of, you know, make that transition, smoothly," Scott said. Committee members congratulated staff on the hire and noted the additional capacity it will provide.
Related to staffing, Lisa Hanayro reminded members that budget requests for a dedicated affordable housing staff position will be on the Plan Commission agenda and that the committee should include an FTE request for 2026 in the strategy plan.
The committee agreed to reflect the proposed FTE in the strategy and finance draft and to coordinate with the Plan Commission process on budget timing.
