Middleton committee assigns leads, timelines for affordable housing action plan and outreach

The Middleton Workforce Housing Committee on a recent meeting approved minor corrections to prior minutes and set authorship and timelines for an affordable housing action plan, designating the education subcommittee lead to draft outreach materials and the strategy and finance lead to draft the financing and priority sections.

Committee members prioritized public-facing education on affordable housing in Middleton and proposed building a simple website introduction and an online dashboard to track progress. "I wonder if there's an opportunity to look at the website… and the idea of a dashboard," Lisa Hanayro said, citing examples from Sun Prairie and Madison.

The strategy and finance subcommittee reported it has begun drafting a mission statement and populated a Miro board with prioritization ideas. Jeremy said the subcommittee's work will organize actions around the committee's four priorities: buy, build, refurbish and finance. Members were asked to review the Miro board and submit additional ideas before the next meeting.

Staff said the communications director is temporarily addressing ADA compliance on the planning website before adding new public content. Committee members asked staff to schedule joint meetings in October–December with the Community Development Authority so both bodies can review the consolidated draft plan.

The committee set homework for members to prepare prioritized questions for an invited presenter from Sun Prairie and to bring examples or case studies from other communities. The plan's authors were asked to keep the document concise and accessible; Hanayro said she prefers plans that are no more than 30 pages.

The committee adjourned after setting those timelines and future presentations.
