Arlington City staff on Monday gave the Planning Commission an informational briefing on the Lindsay Subarea Plan and directed commissioners to the city website for full materials. Amy, speaking for city staff, said the final Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) for the plan was issued in November and that the project materials and hearing exhibits are posted at Departments → Economic Development → Subarea plans → Lindsay.
At the briefing, Amy said the public hearing on the plan produced no oral public comments and lasted about 35 minutes. “At the hearing, there were no public comments, so that was shocking and good,” Amy said. She also said the city received 11 total written comments from agencies and citizens.
Amy described the approximate sequencing of development in the subarea, noting that work on 79th East is under contract with MJS Investors and that phases of build-out will advance as property owners move forward. She said all procedural and environmental review steps are technically complete for the current submission.
The staff update said the item will be forwarded to City Council for consideration at meetings in January and on Feb. 1. Amy told commissioners that the hearing recording exists but must be requested through the city’s public records process because it cannot be emailed directly.
The briefing was informational only; no formal action was required or taken by the Planning Commission at this meeting. The next procedural steps are review by City Council and any subsequent council actions on the plan.
