Tim Dedrick, a Mount Pleasant resident, used the public‑comment period at the Dec. 8 Village Board meeting to urge the board to make traffic enforcement a priority.
"I am here to put you all on notice that our roads and highways have become unsafe," Dedrick said, describing frequent red‑light and stop‑sign violations and drivers who "border on self‑reckless driving." He asked trustees to meet with the police chief and to determine whether the department has the resources to address the problem: "Do we have a traffic safety problem? And do you have the resources to address this problem?"
The president noted the police chief was present and said the chief "would be happy to talk further with you in the other room." The board did not take formal action on the comment during the meeting.
Dedrick framed the concern as a public‑safety priority, saying that enforcement and resource allocation should come before regret after a serious crash. The board acknowledged his concerns and invited follow‑up with the police chief.
