At the Dec. 17 meeting, the Board of Education moved forward several governance updates and an agreement on school resource officers.
Trustees considered first and second readings of revised board policy exhibits recommended by the Illinois Association of School Boards. After a motion, second and roll call votes, the board adopted the revised exhibits on second reading. The transcript records affirmative roll-call responses when the board voted to adopt the policies.
Separately, the board approved an intergovernmental agreement with the village of Evergreen Park regarding school resource officers (SROs). Doctor Woodland explained the SRO agreement dated from 2013 had been revisited after attorney training in August, the village attorneys and district attorneys exchanged drafts and the village had formally assigned the agreement; the board moved and voted to approve the IGA and authorized Michael (as the board signatory) to execute it.
Why it matters: updated policy exhibits reflect governance housekeeping and legal-recommendation alignment; the SRO agreement sets the framework for law-enforcement presence in district buildings and requires formal board approval.
The board recorded votes by roll call for both the policy adoption and the SRO intergovernmental agreement; the motions passed as documented in the public minutes. The board then recessed to closed session to discuss collective negotiating matters and salary schedules.
