Attorney Nicole Blanda of Bizelle Blanda Visconti spoke for the applicant and described the 1.37‑acre site, the proposal for four buildings totaling 24 one‑bedroom units, a two‑story recreation building for seniors and outdoor amenities; she said the proposal exceeds the town’s parking requirement by 10 spaces and includes an affordable component of five units.
Nearby residents expressed safety and quality‑of‑life concerns. Anthony Milling of 119 Cedar Road, who said his house is the second from the end of the dead‑end, asked whether the new complex would have a single access route and warned that ambulances and fire apparatus already face constrained access. Ruth Pierre, also of 119 Cedar Road, said she has video showing emergency vehicles being unable to get into the street and that she had to park a block away; Supervisor Schaeffer asked residents to provide contact information and submit the footage and said he would ask the Suffolk County Police First Precinct to inspect the area.
Supervisor Schaeffer took public comment, reminded speakers to submit written statements for the record, and the board closed the hearing with decision reserved. No vote or final action on the rezoning was taken at the meeting.
