Papillion City Administrator (identified in the transcript as Miss Powers) told the council Dec. 16 that the Police Department is investigating fraudulent invoices being circulated that appear to be City of Papillion bills. "If you receive an invoice from the City of Papillion that looks fishy or that you were not expecting, please follow-up with one of our city departments directly using the contact information on the city's website," Miss Powers said. "Don't use the contact information on the documents since it may contain fraudulent contact information. The city never asks for wire transfers or direct deposits."
The administrator also reminded residents that the police department offers a Vacation Watch service for anyone gone at least three days, with a simple online form to request extra patrol attention. She promoted the Cookies & Carols community event on Thursday, Dec. 18, at The Landing in the Chrysalis Suites from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m., with hot cocoa, cookies and photos with Santa, and thanked the city's 55+ club for organizing the event.
Miss Powers provided a schedule of upcoming committee meetings: Jan. 6 (finance/administration committee to discuss master fee schedule at the request of the golf department), Jan. 20 (golf ad hoc committee for updated capital improvement project statuses), Feb. 3 (public safety committee to review city code chapter 85, animal codes), and Feb. 17 (public facilities committee to receive a library master plan presentation from consultants). She said the city—s 2025 annual report will be delivered to Papillion residents and water customers between Christmas and New Year—s.
The administrator's advice to verify invoices and avoid using contact information on suspicious documents was reiterated later in the meeting by the mayor. The council did not take immediate policy action at the meeting beyond public notification.
