After closed session the board terminates two employee contracts for cause
Summary
Following a closed executive session, the Spring ISD board voted unanimously to terminate the 2025–26 employment contracts of Brandon Lewis and John Braxton for cause and authorized the superintendent to provide required written notices.
After convening a closed meeting under the Texas Open Meetings Act (Tex. Gov’t Code §§551.071, .072, .074 and .076), the Spring ISD board reconvened in open session and took personnel actions.
Actions taken: Trustee Jensen moved and Trustee Adams seconded a motion to terminate the 2025–26 Chapter 21 term employment contract of Brandon Lewis for good cause, effective immediately; the board approved the motion unanimously. Trustee Correa moved (seconded by Trustee Adams) to approve the superintendent’s recommendation to terminate the 2025–26 Chapter 21 probationary employment contract of John Braxton for good cause; that motion also passed unanimously.
Administration was authorized to provide both employees with written notice of the board’s actions in accordance with district policy and applicable law. The board did not provide detailed factual findings on the record; trustees stated the terminations were taken “as discussed in executive session.”
