Parrish Medical Center tells commissioners it needs digital records and county collaboration as volumes rise

The presenter described a $20 million financial turnaround after the pandemic.
On IT and quality reporting, Parrish representatives said some large regional systems use Epic and that an Epic implementation is unaffordable. The presenter said he plans to bring a request to his board for roughly $7,000,000 to acquire Meditech Expanse electronic medical records: "I plan to bring to the next board meeting a request for $7,000,000 for our board to approve Parrish Medical Center acquiring ... Meditech Expanse," he said, adding that the system would enable internal data scrubbing and AI-driven reporting improvements.
Commissioners asked about awards, obstetrics staffing and the timing for any decision. Staff discussed the strain created by the Rockledge Hospital closure and encouraged county collaboration to reduce duplication and encourage coordination among health providers.
