Commission approves personnel changes, strikes SUU MOA and notes local board outreach

The Iron County Commission approved personnel changes listed on the agenda, including hires, promotions and effective dates across several departments. Speaker 7 read personnel actions that included: Skyler LaPral selected to fill a vacant full-time medical technician position in corrections effective 11/10/2025; promotions for Jared Ferguson and Jacob Borges (deputy 1 to deputy 2) and Madison Croft (medical deputy 1 to medical deputy 2) effective 11/09/2025; hires in patrol and the animal shelter; selections in aging and building and zoning; and a landfill technician selection effective 12/08/2025. Speaker 5 moved to approve the personnel changes, a second was recorded, and the motion passed with aye votes.
On agenda item 5, a proposed memorandum of agreement between Iron County and Southern Utah University (SUU) for donation of funds to university projects was removed from the agenda for further work; Speaker 8 said staff (Sam and Maria) needed to complete more work before bringing it back. Commissioners also discussed outreach from the Mountain View Water District and indicated they would bring any unresolved follow-up to the commission.
Next steps: personnel paperwork to be completed by county staff and the MOA with SUU to be revised by county staff for later consideration.
