Taos County commissioners voted Dec. 16 to adopt Ordinance 2025-52, authorizing a local economic development project participation agreement with Rolling Stope Distillery. County staff said the agreement is designed to secure a $50,000 LITA investment from the New Mexico Economic Development Division to support the expansion and rehabilitation of a 5,500-square-foot production and sales facility. As part of the project, the distillery committed to create 10 jobs over five years.
Paige Ryan, a regional representative for the state Economic Development Department, spoke in favor and — citing a departmental analysis — said the public investment is expected to be recouped within five years. Staff noted additional infrastructure improvements will be supported by a USDA business development grant. Commissioners approved the ordinance after public comment and a roll-call vote.
