Fort Myers Beach committee unanimously votes to interview two firms for North Island Water Tower RFQ

Jason Freeman, deputy clerk for the Town of Fort Myers Beach, announced that two complete responses were received to RFQ26-03-AD for engineering and architectural services on the North Island Water Tower and asked the selection advisory committee to proceed with public interviews. "The project is entitled Fort Myers Beach Engineering and Architectural Services for the North Island Water Tower," Freeman said.
The RFQ was issued in October and qualifications were due Nov. 24. Freeman told the committee the town received two complete responses — from Dunham Engineering and Tetra Tech Inc. — plus three incomplete submissions with no documents attached. "This project is funded through the community development block grant disaster recovery, CDBGDR, critical infrastructure program, which is administered by Lee County," Freeman said.
Committee members had independently scored the submissions and returned rankings to the clerk's office for compilation. Freeman read the compiled totals, announcing Tetra Tech with a combined score of 267 out of 300 and Dunham Engineering with 237 out of 300. (Individual member score lines were read during the meeting and contained some differing intermediate figures before the clerk read the compiled totals.)
Freeman said the usual next step is to interview finalists in a public meeting. An unidentified committee member moved to interview both firms; a second was offered and the committee voted unanimously in favor. The committee then discussed format and timing for those interviews, expressing a preference for firm presentations so members could evaluate each proposer’s approach. The group approved a motion to ask each firm to provide a 30-minute presentation and discussion slot. Freeman said the clerk’s office will post the upcoming public interview meetings on DemandStar and try to schedule them before the holidays but noted they may occur in early January.
If the interviews proceed as planned, the committee could compile a recommendation for the town manager and then forward it to the town council for authorization to negotiate and potentially approve a contract in January 2026. The meeting was adjourned at 3:08 p.m.
