Pittsylvania County launches plan website, seeks advisory committee members and introduces new staff

County staff announced the launch of a comprehensive-plan project website (www.pitcoplan.com), opened applications for a 15–20 person advisory committee through Dec. 18, and introduced two new community development staff members and recognized interim clerk support.
At the Dec. 2, 2025 meeting, Pittsylvania County staff updated the Planning Commission on the comprehensive-plan update and introduced new staff.
Staff said the selected consultant launched a project website (www.pitcoplan.com) just before Thanksgiving and that the site currently contains an application for residents interested in serving on the project’s steering or advisory committee. Staff said applications will be screened blindly and that the county is likely to select about 15–20 participants. The staff stated the application window is open until Dec. 18.
Two new staff members were introduced. Sabrina Folks joined the county in mid-September as senior administrative assistant and will serve as clerk to the planning commission and the board of zoning appeals. Kelly Smith joined in mid-November as senior planner, a position the community development office had not previously filled; staff noted she is relocating from Florida and previously served as zoning administrator for Marco Island, Florida.
Staff recognized Holly Kazee for stepping in during recent staffing shortages and for assisting with onboarding and permitting work. Later in the meeting, Mister Brown said he is transitioning to the Dan River District Board of Supervisors and asked residents in the Dan River District interested in filling his planning commission seat to contact him.
The commission did not take formal action on the comprehensive-plan project at this meeting; the update and staffing announcements were informational.
