Pittsylvania County planning commission recommends approval of four rezoning petitions

On Dec. 2, 2025, the Pittsylvania County Planning Commission reviewed four rezoning petitions and voted to recommend approval of each to the Board of Supervisors.
Staff described Case R-25-035 as a petition by Charles Bodner to rezone 2.75 acres on State Road 642 (Scott Jacobs Memorial Drive) in the Stanton River Election District from a double-zone district to A-1 agricultural to allow an additional accessory building. The applicant did not add to the staff summary. A motion to recommend approval was made and seconded; the commission’s vote was recorded as 4–0 in favor.
Case R-25-036 involved Joseph and Leanne Fish, who sought to rezone 0.14 acres on State Road 1539 (Ashworth Lane) in the Westover Election District from A-1 agricultural to RC-1 residential combined subdivision. The change would allow consolidation with neighboring RC-1 property owned by James and Lisa Austie to expand a setback. Mister Brown moved to recommend approval; Mister Farris seconded and the motion passed 4–0.
Annette Yates requested Case R-25-037, rezoning 2.17 acres on State Road 680 (Church Road) in the Bannister Election District from R-1 residential suburban subdivision to A-1 agricultural to allow placement of a manufactured home. Miss Henderson, noting no calls or emails of opposition, moved to recommend approval to the Board of Supervisors; the motion was seconded and approved 4–0.
Case R-25-038 was presented for Ryland and Brenda Reynolds, who sought to rezone 2 acres off State Road 805 (Tomahawk Creek Road) in the Callons Retina Election District from R-1 to A-1 and consolidate it with adjacent A-1 property. The applicants were present and had no additional comments. Mister Brown moved for approval; Miss Henderson seconded and the motion passed 4–0, concluding the evening’s public-hearing cases.
Each of the four items was described in the staff packet; commissioners who moved or seconded the motions were recorded in the meeting minutes for each case. There were no recorded public objections for these petitions on the record at the meeting.
The commission’s recommendations now proceed to the Pittsylvania County Board of Supervisors for final action.
