"We did take a precautionary measure, but we have been told that the water boil requirement will be rescinded," Mayor Norma Sepulveda said, adding that Harlingen Waterworks had been testing samples across the city all day.
The mayor and city staff said they were monitoring results and planned to share an official rescission when testing was complete. "Everything came out negative," Sepulveda said during the citizens‑communications portion of the meeting, and asked the media to help notify residents. City staff also reminded residents of seasonal safety measures, including checking smoke detectors and avoiding impaired driving.
Harlingen officials asked residents to keep following any previously issued guidance until the city posts a formal rescission. The city did not provide a timetable beyond explaining that test results were being processed during the meeting and that updates would be released as soon as staff had them.
