The Select Board on Dec. 9 approved installing temporary no-parking signs on Stack Drive after neighbors described persistent employee parking that narrows the travel lane and creates safety and plowing concerns.
David (town staff) presented a proposed ordinance that would create a no-parking zone adjacent to 14 Stack Drive. David reported initial measurements of about 300 feet; a later re-measurement put the distance near 265 feet. Residents, including Matthew Sanciere, told the board the street is frequently used for employee parking "every day, all day, overnight," and that cars sometimes sit partly on neighbors— lawns.
Board members expressed concern that restricting parking on one side would only shift vehicles to the other side and asked for maps, precise measurements to the intersection, and input from the police and fire chiefs to assess emergency access. Given immediate safety concerns and an effective date already scheduled in mid-December, a board member moved to install temporary no-parking signs on Stack Drive (the motion proposed 300 feet on either side of 14 Stack Drive); the motion was seconded and approved by voice vote.
The Select Board directed staff to update the draft ordinance language to address both sides of the road and to post notice on the town—s Facebook page inviting nearby residents to comment before the board considers a formal ordinance at its next meeting.
