Sandy Crystal, chair of the Conservation Commission, told the Select Board on Dec. 9 that the commission has been working to acquire a 10.3-acre parcel on Ferry Road with approximately 1,500 linear feet of frontage on the Merrimack River for conservation protection. The purchase would be paid from the town—s land-use change tax funds, and the commission sought outside help for transaction costs.
Crystal said the Merrimack Conservation Partnership awarded $4,407 toward the town—s transaction costs. A board member moved to accept the grant; the motion was seconded and approved by voice vote.
The board did not discuss changes to the purchase terms at the meeting. Staff will proceed with grant acceptance paperwork and the planned acquisition steps.
