The board moved through several grouped consent packages and approved business services, educational services and personnel items by unanimous votes. The chair announced motions to take sets of items as a group and the motions carried 5–0 on multiple roll calls.
Personnel actions recognized certificated retirements (Augustine Navarro; Howard Simon) and a classified retirement (Larry Waddle Jr.). The board approved those retirement items unanimously.
In a closed‑session call‑out, Superintendent Dr. May Balmer reported the board approved a general lease and settlement agreement (SSS #0Threetwenty20Five‑twenty26), accepted a grievance settlement allowing a specified employee up to nine days of unpaid leave for the 2025–26 school year, and approved appointments for certificated management positions: assistant principal at John Glenn Middle School (Debbie Collier) and director of child welfare and attendance (Al Percy Bennett). The board reported unanimous votes on those closed‑session items.
Board members also asked for follow‑up on oversight of ELOP waitlists and discussed a proposed 2x2 with the City of Indio about construction‑zone enforcement and school property crime prevention.
What’s next: Staff will provide follow‑up materials on ELOP oversight and schedule any agreed 2x2 meetings with municipal partners; no additional board action was taken at the meeting.
