Bel Air board votes to enter closed session to discuss appointments and legal advice on SB 215
Summary
Commissioner Taylor moved, and the board voted unanimously to adjourn to closed session to discuss appointments to town boards and to obtain legal advice on proposed development regulation changes tied to Maryland Senate Bill 215.
At the end of the public work session the board voted to convene in closed session under the Maryland Open Meetings Act.
Commissioner Taylor moved to close the public session under General Provisions Article 3 Section 3‑305(b)(1) and (7) to discuss appointments to town boards, commissions and committees and to obtain legal advice concerning amendments to development regulations related to Maryland Senate Bill 215. The motion was seconded and approved on a roll call vote; Commissioners Chismore, Taylor, Hanley and Chair Eddings voted aye.
The chair announced the board would not conduct further business in public and would adjourn after the closed session.
Separately, the board previewed an item for the Dec. 15 town hall meeting — Resolution 12‑61‑25 to appoint a successor to Commissioner James B. Rutledge III — and noted County Clerk Michelle Korzewski has agreed to attend for the swearing‑in if the resolution passes at that meeting. No appointment vote occurred during the work session.
