Hanover Area School Board elects Rick Stevens president; installs secretary and vice president

The Hanover Area School District Board of Education elected Rick Stevens as board president during its Dec. 4 reorganization meeting and approved a slate of officer appointments and administrative housekeeping items.

Rick Stevens was nominated and, after nominations were closed, elected by voice vote. After taking the chair, Stevens said he was "deeply honored to accept the role of president of the school board" and thanked fellow board members, administrators and the community for their support. He highlighted the district’s forthcoming school opening as a product of years of planning and community investment.

The board also filled other leadership roles. Members approved Stacy Blight as secretary and Jacob Heider as vice president by voice vote; Matthew Reddick was selected as the district’s Pennsylvania School Boards Association legislative representative. The board set the regular monthly work session for the second Tuesday of each month at 6:30 p.m. and the regular monthly meeting for the second of the month at 7 p.m. A motion authorizing the use of facsimile signatures and delegating signature authority to the president, vice president and secretary also passed.

These actions completed the reorganization portion of the meeting and reflected routine governance steps that establish who will carry the board’s procedural responsibilities in the coming term. The board adjourned the reorganization and proceeded to the district’s regular meeting.

The board announced the next regularly scheduled meeting for Jan. 13, 2026.
