The Board of Zoning Appeals granted a conditional-use permit Dec. 15 to allow a home-occupation barbershop and hair salon at 708 Stone Boulevard, a request filed by applicant Randy Brown and presented at the meeting by Pam Brown.
Pam Brown told the board the proposed operation would be a single-stylist business run by her daughter; visits would generally be by appointment and parking needs were expected to be minimal ("maximum, maybe 2 cars"). Planning staff explained that while many home-occupation permits are administratively approved, barbershops require both a home-occupation determination and a conditional-use permit; staff said the submitted plans meet the home-occupation requirements and recommended approval of the conditional use to allow staff to sign off on the home-occupation permit.
The BOZA motion to grant the conditional-use permit was moved and seconded and approved by voice vote; the board closed the meeting following the action.
