The City of Tallahoma Planning Commission approved a site plan Dec. 15 for a gas station with an attached convenience store at 308 East Carroll Street. The applicant, Jermaj Scholesky of Summit Builders Corp, presented intent to build the convenience store; staff said the plan had gone through the Development Advisory Committee review and that all internal comments had been addressed.
Staff advised the commission that a Tennessee Department of Transportation (TDOT) entrance permit is required for the driveway onto State Route 55 and that, if TDOT requires a traffic study, that study must be provided to Public Works. The commission heard that some permitting steps at TDOT sometimes require a municipality-approved plan before TDOT will review the driveway permit. Staff recommended approval of the site plan subject to the DAC comments, submission of any required TDOT permits and the long-term maintenance plan for stormwater and landscaping. Parks and Recreation offered landscaping species guidance that the applicant agreed to incorporate.
Commissioners voted to approve the site plan subject to staff and DAC conditions; the meeting minutes record the vote as 6 to 0.
