Oldham County approves dispatch hire and police promotion; announces holiday events and park planning

Oldham County Fiscal Court approved two personnel actions at its Nov. 18 meeting: the hiring of Aliyah Lewis as a telecommunicator (effective Dec. 1 at $29.86 per hour) and the promotion of David Ingram to sergeant in the county police department (at $47.63 per hour, effective immediately).

Gina Shaw presented both items to the court. "We have a new hire at dispatch. Aliyah Lewis is a telecommunicator two ... effective December 1," Shaw said, and the court moved and seconded both personnel actions; both measures carried.

Following personnel business, magistrates and staff made several community announcements: a county toy drive and food‑drive collection across county buildings, a downtown "Light Up LaGrange" event on Dec. 6, a Christmas market Nov. 22 in Ballyardsville, and a planned dumpster day on Dec. 12. Magistrate Tice and others asked residents to be mindful of leaf burning hazards and to donate to local food drives.

The court also discussed Stewart Park, a large property recently voted into the county park system. Judge Vogel said the county expects to close the sale with the Stewart family soon and intends to bring in landscape architects and form a 'friends of Stewart Park' group to plan long‑term improvements.
