The district’s policy committee presented five policies for first reading, singling out a comprehensive social media policy (13.1) and a fully revamped artificial intelligence policy (13.5) for board members to study before the next policy meeting in January.
"Please take a really good look at that before we look at it again... 13.5 is a completely revamped version," a policy committee member said, urging careful review.
Board members also debated whether the district’s lengthy code of conduct should be reproduced in full inside the board policy manual or kept as a separate manual linked from the website. Superintendent Chandler and others recommended keeping the full code posted on the district website and including a short policy reference in the manual to avoid duplicating a multi‑page manual.
Separately, the board discussed a facilities‑naming request and agreed to form a five‑person ad hoc committee to vet nominations and make a recommendation to the board. Superintendent Chandler will propose initial members/roles and circulate an update before January.
