District says bond sale set for July 16; roof and West Running Brook work to start this summer

At its May 20 meeting, the Derry Cooperative School District received an update on capital-improvement work funded by the recently approved bond.
Business administrator Jane Simard said the district has submitted the bond application and all legal documents to bond counsel and the New Hampshire Municipal Bond Bank. She said the bond sale is scheduled for July 16 and the closing is expected between Aug. 6 and Aug. 8, at which point bond proceeds will be wired to the district.
Simard provided project-level updates: roof replacement plans for Grinnell and Gilbert H. Hood are designed and Tech Roofing was selected; work is planned to begin in June once school is out. At West Running Brook, scaffolding is in place and crews will bring materials on-site June 16, with demolition of exterior banding to start June 17. Jane said preliminary design work for door and window replacement and HVAC upgrades at South Range is underway; some projects are targeted to start in 2026.
Board members asked for a high-level public schedule of bond projects and for clarity on use of unreserved fund balance for certain facilities work. Simard said she is coordinating cash-flow projections and will provide a schedule at the next board meeting after a finance-committee meeting planned for the week of June 2.
No formal vote was taken on bond expenditures at this meeting; Jane committed to providing the requested schedule and end-of-year projections to the board.
