Pampa’s commission approved an interlocal agreement under which Hemphill County Hospital District will pay the city $25,000 per year for additional 911 dispatch services.
A staff presenter said the city incorporated the county’s dispatch functions some years ago and took on additional workload as Hemphill expanded service into neighboring areas. "We spent several months talking back and forth with them and have settled on this agreement where they will pay us $25,000 a year for the additional dispatching services that we do for them," the presenter said.
Staff characterized the payment as a contribution toward the dispatch stipend the city and county typically request (a $100,000 figure was cited for past expectations) and said the arrangement will result in a $75,000 net payment for the year to the city rather than the full $100,000 previously mentioned in discussions. Commissioners had no further questions and the motion to approve the interlocal agreement carried by voice vote.
