KEENE — The Keene Zoning Board of Adjustment on a special meeting evening continued six variance applications for property at 150 Congress Street to the board’s regular meeting on Monday, Oct. 6.
Chair Richard Clow called the meeting to order at 6:30 p.m. and led roll call before the board took up a sequence of cases filed by petitioner Mike Gokey and represented by Jonathan LeFevre of Fieldstone Land Consultants. Each petitioner request was presented in turn and each applicant requested a continuance.
The cases cover a package of requested relief for the same parcel: ZBA2025‑13 (setback variance under Article 6.3.0.2), ZBA2025‑14 (minimum lot size under Article 6.3.0.2), ZBA2025‑15 (parking surface requirements under Article 9.4.0.2), ZBA2025‑16 (additional minimum lot size relief under Article 6.3.0.2), ZBA2025‑17 (building encroachment of approximately 4 feet into the 30‑foot side setback under Article 6.3.0.2) and ZBA2025‑18 (permission to allow an indoor recreation/entertainment facility where not permitted under Article 6.3.0.5).
Board members confirmed that only three voting members were needed to act on continuances at this special meeting; member Zach LaRoy was noted as remaining non‑voting for the session. For each case a motion to continue was made and seconded by board members, and the board recorded unanimous support to move the hearings to the Oct. 6 meeting. “That’s unanimous,” the chair said after the votes.
No substantive testimony on the merits of the variances was recorded during the special meeting; no findings, conditions or determinations on any application were made. The board noted the Oct. 6 meeting will begin at 6:30 p.m. in Council Chambers on the second floor of City Hall.
The cases remain scheduled for the October 6 regular meeting; interested members of the public were reminded the City of Keene posts meeting videos and agenda materials on the city website and on its YouTube channel.
