The planning commission recommended Ordinance 2025‑157, an amendment to subdivision design standards, and tabled Ordinance 2025‑159, a petition to vacate a portion of Aspen Street.
City staff and the city engineer explained the design standards changes are intended to codify practices already requested in engineering review: clearly identify wetlands, natural drainage and other sensitive features on plat documents, keep those features out of private sublots to prevent future homeowner encroachments and reduce long‑term maintenance problems, and add crisp definitions for reviewer clarity. The commission voted unanimously to recommend the amendment.
On the Aspen Street vacation, staff said the petitioner requested vacating a 40‑foot right of way between Ridgeview Boulevard addresses and the city asked that a 20‑foot access and drainage easement be reserved for Batner Ditch maintenance. Commissioners discussed whether earlier subdivision approvals included pedestrian connectivity or sidewalks through the same land and noted missing applicants and the need to clarify easement language. With the petitioner absent, the commission voted to table the vacation request to allow more information and applicant presence.
The design‑standards amendment will go to City Council for final action; the Aspen Street petition is deferred pending further documentation and the presence of the petitioner.
