LPS honors library services director Chris Heffner for statewide leadership

The Lincoln Public Schools Board of Education on Oct. 14 adopted a resolution recognizing Chris Heffner, the district's library services director, after a board member read the resolution recounting her leadership and her recent Meritorious Service Award from the Nebraska School Librarian Association.
In accepting the recognition, Heffner thanked district leadership and her team, described the district's approach to ensuring students have access to strong library instruction, and credited colleagues at the district office and at area universities: "I am so lucky that I get to do the joyous work of leading our school library programs every day," she said. Heffner also acknowledged former director Mary Bridal and named colleagues Betsy Thomas, Joy Harvey and Emily Jacobs who she said help make LPS libraries exemplary.
Board members offered brief congratulatory remarks and the secretary called the roll; the resolution was adopted by unanimous voice/roll call for those present.
