The commission also noted nearly $500 in a 'smarty board' line item and a $4,000 utility‑box wrap line item that had been freed after receiving a donation. Staff said the STCU donation and other earmarked funds influence how much remains available for year‑end purchases.
Commissioner Joni Hay moved "that we spend the remainder of the home for the holidays budget before the end of the year," and Katie Ferris seconded. Chair Nancy Hill called the vote; the motion passed unanimously. The commission directed staff to finalize allowable purchases and process invoices so expenditures occur before the calendar year closes.
The motion allocated unspent commission funds to the Home for the Holidays program; commissioners discussed logistical improvements for future events — photo stations, portable stage options, heaters and improved sightlines for Santa — but made no binding commitments for next year's budget at the meeting.
