Story County board sends procurement policy revisions out for seven-day review

Auditor Lucy Martin presented the changes, saying they were prepared at the request of the county attorney to resolve an ambiguity in how the policy treats "horizontal and vertical construction, reconstruction and improvement projects" versus the county's public-improvement project section, and to align threshold language with state law. Martin said she and county staff also checked and updated numerous code references, including federal code citations, and corrected an omission that had left an earlier physical-inventory threshold change ($500 to $1,000) inconsistent in policy text.
"This will go out for seven-day review if you choose to accept the edits and put that out," Martin said during the presentation. After discussion the board voted to place the draft policy on a seven-day review schedule.
The motion to send the policy out for review was moved, seconded and approved with 'Basil' and 'Edens' recorded as voting Aye. The board did not adopt the policy that day; the seven-day review opens an opportunity for further comment before a potential final vote.
Next steps: the policy will be posted for the statutory seven-day review period and returned to the board for further consideration once the review concludes.
