Small $2,000 grant approved by staff; larger hockey grant to return in January

Staff told the commission that a small grant (about $2,000) for a sailing competition was approved administratively and that a larger hockey championship grant will be presented for a vote at the commission's January meeting when Destination Madison provides its annual report.
At the Nov. 19 meeting the commission's presenter said two grant applications had been received: a small grant for a sailing competition ("2,000 or less") that staff approved administratively and a larger hockey championship grant that will require a commission vote in January.
The presenter said the small grant already has a room block at two local hotels and that the hockey grant "was okay to wait until January because I told him we don't do business in December." The hockey grant and Destination Madison's annual report will be on the January agenda; staff will bring the hockey grant forward and the commission can vote then.
No formal vote on the hockey grant took place on Nov. 19.
