Adams County confirms EMA director transition; deputy promoted to director

County emergency-management staff and the EMA board recommended an internal transition in leadership: the current director, Barb, will move to part-time status in January and Deputy Director Megan Wilson was recommended to replace her as EMA director effective Jan. 3. The EMA board’s recommendation was presented to the commissioners, who confirmed that resumes had been solicited and reviewed, and then voted to approve the appointment.
Commissioners and staff praised Barb’s service and noted that Megan Wilson has completed required training and coursework for the role. The board instructed staff to process the personnel action and payroll change to reflect the Jan. 3 start date for Wilson and Barb’s move to a part-time role.
During the same discussion, staff reported EMA had identified $8,500 toward a county mobile-app project for the health department; the health department will pay $2,000 and the county will route payments through the next claims cycle.
