The Meltzer Tourism Commission voted on Oct. 15 to award a $5,000 destination partnership grant to the Wisconsin Track Coaches Association for its clinic set for February 2025.
Staff presenting the request said the group has historically generated about 370 overnight stays and that the association hopes to secure a room block of roughly 420 room nights this year; presenters estimated about 1,000 attendees because the event includes a vendor show and other programming. The requested $5,000 grant would be used to sponsor elements of the clinic (including a women’s clinic and the hall-of-fame dinner) and to provide a fundraising raffle basket and related support.
After the presentation there were no substantive objections from commission members. A motion to approve the $5,000 destination partnership grant was made and seconded; members voted by voice and the motion carried.
The commission’s approval authorizes staff to finalize grant paperwork and notify event organizers. No amendment to the grant amount was proposed during the meeting.
