Covington council adopts 2026 operating and capital budget

Multiple council members thanked staff for what they described as a balanced, fiscally responsible budget and noted the difficulty of the year’s budget decisions. Speakers emphasized the collaborative budget workshop process and said the additional police officer position was an important allocation.
Council moved, seconded and adopted an ordinance in substantial form to approve the 2026 operating and capital budget by voice vote. Council members speaking in favor cited conservative estimates and collaborative review as factors supporting adoption.
