Stevens Road bridge closure, detours and LPGA event to affect Hamilton Township traffic in September

Township staff told the Board of Trustees on Aug. 20 that Stevens Road will close beginning Sept. 15 for a bridge replacement expected to take up to 12 weeks and that official detours will use county and state roads.
"The county engineer's office has hired a private contractor. They'll be doing that work. They expect it to take up to 12 weeks," said Unidentified Speaker 6, describing the upcoming project and the county’s role in routing detours.
Staff said the county engineer’s official detour maps are required to use state and county roads and will not route through Hargis Drive or Village On The Green properties. The township’s police department plans directed patrols in the area during the closure to monitor traffic and support resident safety.
Officials also briefed the board on the Kroger Queen City Championship, an LPGA event scheduled at TPC Rivers Bend from Sept. 11 through Sept. 14. Organizers will implement daily road closures during play hours and provide shuttle busing from a designated visitor and volunteer parking area. Staff said event management and police have coordinated safety and access plans.
Township staff encouraged residents to watch for published detour maps from the county engineer’s office and to check the township website for updates. The board also announced a groundbreaking for a new Public Works building scheduled for Sept. 8 at 9 a.m., and said two firefighters recently passed the state paramedic exam on their first attempt.
The detour routing and daily closures are time‑sensitive: the bridge work’s Sept. 15 start date and the tournament dates make immediate information sharing to residents a priority.
