The Venus ISD Board of Trustees approved the district’s participation in the 26/27 Region 10 multi-region cooperative (co-op) agreement.
Tina summarized the agreement, saying Region 10 assists districts with procuring goods, preparing request-for-proposals, scoring bids and providing technical and child-nutrition compliance training. "It is free of charge, and they help all districts," Tina said, adding that vendors that participate pay fees to the coop and any unused funds are rebated to member districts; she cited a recent rebate of roughly $2,000.
Trustees asked whether the coop forces districts to use listed vendors; Tina responded that districts participate in the co-op process and that districts typically do not go outside the coop vendors because participation requires coordinated scoring and administration. Trustee Amber moved to approve the agreement and a second was recorded; the chair announced the motion carries.
Board members said the coop increases buying power and reduces district procurement burden; the board approved the agreement as presented.
