The Freedom Public Schools Board of Education accepted the resignation of board member Frank Berry and appointed Amanda Schroeder to fill the resulting vacancy.
A board member announced that Mr. Frank Berry had submitted his resignation. The board moved to accept the resignation; the motion was seconded and approved by roll-call vote.
District staff then said that Amanda Schroeder had volunteered to fill the vacancy. The board moved and seconded a motion to appoint Schroeder to Board Seat Number 3 to complete the remainder of the term. The roll-call vote recorded in the transcript shows members voting in the affirmative, and the appointment carried.
After the appointment, Amanda Schroeder took an oath of office, saying, "I, Amanda Schroeder, hereby declare under oath that I will faithfully perform the duties of Board Seat Number 3 of the Freedom Public Schools to the best of my ability, and that I will faithfully discharge all of the duties pertaining to said office and obey the constitution and laws of The United States and of Oklahoma." A staff member reminded Schroeder that because the previous member’s term was not more than half completed, Schroeder will need to file to be elected next December to finish the term.
The board did not specify further follow-up actions in the meeting record.
