Board reappoints two land bank members; schedules organizational meeting planning

The Van Buren County Board on Nov. 23 moved to reappoint two members to the land bank authority. A commissioner nominated reappointments for Zach Morris and Todd Hackenberg; the motion received support and the board voiced approval by roll call/voice vote.
Separately, commissioners discussed scheduling the annual board organization meeting and bylaws review. Staff recommended placing organizational items on the Dec. 9 agenda and holding the formal organization meeting (to elect chair and vice chair and review bylaws) at the first Tuesday in January (discussed as Jan. 6). The board agreed to return on Dec. 9 to consider formal adoption of the organizational schedule and bylaws.
Commissioners also discussed limiting department presentations at the organizational meeting to 10–15 minutes per department so the full organization meeting could be completed in one session. No additional formal actions were taken at the Nov. 23 meeting beyond the reappointments and placement of organization items on the Dec. 9 agenda.
