Hamilton Township announces road closures, events and police recognition

Mr. Wright briefed trustees on county-managed road projects affecting township residents. He said a contractor will mill and pave a patch at Nunnar Road on Wednesday, Aug. 28, and the township expects the closure to begin midmorning after the school commute. "Sometime after 9AM, I would expect on Wednesday, August 28, Nunnar will be shut down for a few hours," Wright said.

Wright also said the county engineer awarded a contract to JTM Smith Construction to replace an aging bridge on Stevens Road; the work will require an approximately 12‑week closure with detours, expected to start in mid‑September. "They're gonna have about a 12 week road closure of Stevens for that replacement," he said, and township staff said the county posted detour information and will share updates on social media. Wright outlined parks and public-safety updates: a Mounts Park stream-restoration bid timeline, a veterans fish-and-float on Sept. 12 (registration open), and a rescheduled "Movie in the Park" on Aug. 22 at Tesserman Park (games at 7 p.m.; film about 8:30 p.m.). He also noted the police records clerk, Amy Schiller, received national recognition from the Defense Counterintelligence Agency for efficient background-check processing and that the department expects to complete state accreditation later in the year.

Wright said fire apparatus (a pumper and ladder) and an ambulance re‑chassis are in the procurement/upfitting pipeline and expected to arrive later this year.
