Little Miami board approves contracts, donation, personnel actions and reapproves high-school course guide to add weighted grades

At its Dec. 16 meeting the Little Miami School Board approved a package of routine administrative items including contracts, a donation, personnel approvals and a reapproval of the high-school course description guide required by state law.
Contracts approved included an agreement with the Warren County Educational Service Center for special-education student placement, a three-year contract with Securius 360 for cyber protection, a placement matter with Village Christian reported as no cost to the district, and an as-needed staffing agreement with Emergis Healthcare Staffing for clinical positions. The board approved the contracts by motion and roll-call vote.
The board accepted a $2,450 donation from the Little Miami Athletic Boosters to supplement the high-school softball program purchase (described as Rapsodo software). The donation was presented as fully received and approved by roll call.
On personnel, the superintendent requested approval of all items under personnel; the board approved the slate. The superintendent highlighted the hiring of Ellen Spence for the academic-team coaching staff to support Maupin’s team, which the superintendent noted remained undefeated at the time of comment.
The board also reapproved the high-school course description guide to comply with recent state legislation (ORC 3313.6031), which requires schools to apply weighted grades for a list of designated career-center satellite courses. The superintendent listed the courses to receive weights, including strategic entrepreneurship, accounting, LM web development, AP computer science, digital media arts 1 and 2, intro to digital media arts, Project Lead The Way aerospace engineering, and PLTW intro to engineering. The board approved the reapproval by roll call and the changes will be applied retroactively for the semester courses as outlined by the superintendent.
The meeting closed the consent and business portion of the agenda before the board voted to enter executive session to consider the investigation of charges or complaints against a public employee, official, licensee or student.
Votes and routine approvals were recorded by roll call with affirmative votes by the majority of members present.
